As you can see by the name of the site, Midlife Perspective, I’m no spring chicken, and this blogging thing is a little more complicated than I had anticipated. But then again, so is everything else in life. One thing I have learned is that things take time, and this blog is no exception.
Finding Help
I ran across a video tutorial site on the web and downloaded the free, yes completely free, wordpress tutorial. I have to say it has been a god-send. It is easy to follow and pretty thorough considering that it’s free. I thought it would be a short teaser video, with a “if you want the rest, you gotta pay” link, but it’s really amazing. This guy has spelled out everything and dummied it down for newbs like me. It’s just the hand-holding I was looking for.
So, I’m following the instructions step by step and I’m at the part where I can choose different themes or customize them. It suggests that you put some content in to see how your themes will present your blog, so I’m posting this first entry as instructed. (If nothing else, I’m a very good pupil) I uploaded this sunset theme for now, but I’m not really sure I like it. However, I’m only halfway through the tutorial, I can see the next step shows how to customize it. So who knows.
I’ve also learned how to put a link into a post, so what better time to do so then here on my first test post. I’m linking to the tutorial site that has been such a help to me.
Future posts will have more meaningful content, once I’m up and running.
