Struggling with blogging-and loving it

Starting this blog has been somewhat of a challenge, more challenging than I had anticipated. It really does take some time to get this all down. There’s so much to learn besides just writing posts.
I realized there would be a learning curve to deal with so I decided not to start this blog until I had a week vacation from work (yes, I said work, unfortunately, I have a full time job as a network administrator for small company). With that being said, I had no idea how much time was involved in learning the ins and outs of Wordpress, SEO, blogging etiquette, etc.
There are all sorts of things to work through. You have backlinks, trackbacks, pings, permalinks, plugins,…the list goes on and on. I consider myself fairly intelligent but perhaps I’m a slow learner. I literally have spent every waking hour learning, researching. (tinkering with the themes took me 2 whole days right there).
Now I find myself here on Friday, the official end of my vacation, worried that I won’t have enough time needed to become a proper blogger. I can always post to it every day and have my husband read it. (A readership of one is better than none, I guess) ..I’m kidding. I am determined to continue with my quest. I will make this work, and I will get visitors…eventually.
Loving it
Although it sounds like I’m complaining, I have to admit, I really do enjoy this kind of stuff. It’s refreshing to me to step away for the same old, same old and learn something new. All of this toiling gives me a sense of satisfaction. I have actually immersed myself in something for me. Not for my boss, not for my kids, not for my husband, but for me. The success or failure of this project will ride on my shoulders and I really love that sort of thing.
I love learning about style sheets, and researching how the plugins work, and most of all, reading other blogs. I’m already compiling a list of blogs that I am finding helpful and soon I will add them to my blogroll. But for now, I must get back to the tasks at hand. It’s already Friday afternoon, and I have much more I want to accomplish before I go back to the dreaded job ![]()
