About this blog
Midlife Perspective
This blog is a commentary on life in general as seen through the eyes of middle-age. And hopefully, along the way will provide useful insights and resources.
As we enter midlife, or middle-age, whichever you prefer, we gain an entirely new perspective on life. We look back on our past, and have learned from our mistakes. We have much to look back on, yet much more ahead of us.
For some of us it’s the most anxiety-ridden time of our lives. Our children are teenagers (need I say more) or in college, our parents are aging, and both look to us for help and guidance.
We’re saving for retirement and college tuition at the same time, all the while, still working harder, longer hours. We worry about staying young, staying healthy, making more money. You name it, it all hits the fan at this stage in life.
We are responsible, “seasoned” adults now. We are supposed to have it all together. No more excuses for us. We can’t fall back on the “young and dumb” excuse, yet we can’t quite use the “I’ve been around a long time and I’m done” excuse. We’re right in the middle. Caring for everyone around us all the while being told that now is the time we need to start taking care of ourselves.
Even with all these stresses and anxieties, at this point in our lives, we have the unique perspective of looking back with a little more wisdom while looking ahead with a little less naiveté.
Not that life is any easier now, we’re just armed with some “Midlife Perspective”
